It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Brother Paul Holderfield Jr., pastor of Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene and founder of the FLAME nonprofit in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Pastor Paul wasn’t just known for his sermons — he was known for his servanthood. His closest friends weren’t the powerful or the privileged, but the homeless, the hungry, and the hurting.
For decades, he built bridges of love in his community, offering meals, clothing, and dignity to those society often overlooks. To him, ministry wasn’t about spotlight moments; it was about living like Jesus, every day, to everyone.
The church’s heartfelt announcement said this was not just a loss for the Holderfield family, but for the entire church family, the city of North Little Rock, the Nazarene Church, the homeless community he loved so deeply, and everyone touched by the life of one amazing man.
They asked for prayers for his wife Cathy, his children Patty, Courtney, Krystin, and Paul Phillip, and the grandchildren who adored their “Papa.”
As they grieve, the church’s message carried one last reminder — the same words Pastor Paul often used to close his messages:
“Remain in His grip.”
Because even in loss, he wanted every believer to stay anchored in Christ’s love.
