Hi everyone,

Israel has flatly rejected the joint statement made by several foreign ministers condemning its approval of a new construction plan near Jerusalem — its eternal capital.

The foreign ministers from EU, UK, Australia, Canada, and other countries claim the project violates international law and jeopardizes the two-state solution.

Israel responded firmly, declaring that no foreign power can dictate its capital city or its right to build in its own land.

In this video, we will look at:

QUESTION #1. What did the foreign ministers say?
QUESTION #2. What is Israel’s official response?

QUESTION #1. What did the foreign ministers say?

The foreign ministers from the EU, UK, Australia, Canada, and other countries issued a joint condemnation of Israel’s approval of the controversial E1 settlement plan, which aims to build additional housing east of Jerusalem, calling the plan “unacceptable” and a violation of international law.

They urged Israel to reverse the decision immediately, warning that the project would split the West Bank, isolate East Jerusalem from the rest of the Palestinian territories, and jeopardize any two-state solution.

Notably, the UK escalated diplomatically by formally summoning the Israeli ambassador.

QUESTION #2. What is Israel’s official response?

Israel’s official response outrightly rejected the foreign ministers’ statement asserting that it attempts to impose “foreign dictates” on its sovereign decisions, calling it as outside interference. The Foreign Ministry insisted that Jews have a historic and legal right to build and live anywhere in the Land of Israel, declared the project consistent with international law, and argued that no Palestinian state has ever existed, dismissing other arguments as lacking historical, legal, or factual basis.

QUESTION #3. What is the E1 construction plan, and why is it controversial?

The E1 plan is a proposed Israeli construction project between East Jerusalem and Ma’ale Adumim, that would include housing and infrastructure to expand Jerusalem eastward.

Critics warn that it would split the West Bank, cut off East Jerusalem (which Palestinians see as their future capital) from Palestinian territories, and undermine a two-state solution. The plan has drawn consistent international condemnation, making it a recurring diplomatic flashpoint.

The United States, the European Union, the United Nations, and others have long opposed E1, saying it would make a viable Palestinian state extremely impossible. Every time Israel moves forward with E1, it sparks international condemnation and serves as a test of Israel’s sovereignty vs. global pressure.

Israel sees the E1 plan as a way to strengthen Jerusalem’s security and settlement continuity, while critics see it as jeopardizing prospects for peace and a two-state solution.

QUESTION #4. What are the implications for peace, diplomacy, and sovereignty?

The E1 plan threatens the peace process by undermining a two-state solution making a contiguous Palestinian state nearly impossible. It fuels Palestinian anger, increasing risk of violence, unrest, and mistrust in negotiations.

Diplomatically, it draws global condemnation from the EU, the UK, the US, the UN, and others, strains Israel’s relations with key allies, inviting sanctions or risking diplomatic isolation, becoming a recurring flashpoint in global forums, and portraying Israel as resistant to peace efforts.

For sovereignty, Israel views it as asserting historic and legal rights and securing Jerusalem as its indivisible capital, while critics view it as illegal settlement expansion, that undermines international law.

E1 deepens the conflict between Israel’s push for sovereignty and the international community’s push for a negotiated peace, leaving diplomacy increasingly fragile.

QUESTION TO YOU: Do you believe Israel has the right to build freely in its capital, or should international law prevail? Type 1 if you believe Israel has the right, Type 2 if you believe International Law should take precedence. Please share your thoughts in the Comments section. Let’s discuss this together!

Israel utterly rejects the statement of the foreign ministers regarding the approval of a construction plan near Jerusalem
The State of Israel is governed by a democratically elected government, which acts to promote the interests of the citizens of Israel. The presumption of foreign governments to speak in the name of what is best for Israelis is an unacceptable pretension in international relations.

(MFA Spokesperson Announcement)

Israel utterly rejects the statement of the foreign ministers regarding the approval of a construction plan near Jerusalem, its eternal capital, and rejects the attempt to impose foreign dictates upon it.

The historic right of Jews to live anywhere in the Land of Israel – the birthplace of the Jewish people – is indisputable. There is no other nation in the world that has a stronger, longer-standing, and better-documented connection to its land than the Jewish people has to the Land of Israel, and this connection and right do not require the affirmation of foreign governments.

Israel acts in accordance with International law. The establishment of a Jewish state in the Jewish people’s ancient homeland, including the settlement by Jews on the land, was clearly recognized in the British Mandate, which was adopted by the League of Nations in 1922. The adoption of the 1917 Balfour Declaration into the Mandate was expressly agreed in the 1920 San Remo Conference. Under the Mandate, the right of the Jewish people to build their national home extended to the entire territory of “Mandatory Palestine”. These rights were preserved under Article 80 of the UN Charter.

There is no restriction for Arabs to reside in any part of the State of Israel, and a call to deny Jews – and Jews alone – the right to reside in certain areas of the State of Israel has a name: racism.

The Jewish people are the indigenous people of the Land of Israel. At no point in history has there ever been a Palestinian state, and any attempt to argue otherwise has no legal, factual, or historical basis.

Regardless of the absurdity of the claim regarding the future consequences of the decision – Israel rejects the external attempt to impose a jihadist terror state in the heart of Israel.
Finally, the State of Israel is governed by a democratically elected government, which acts to promote the interests of the citizens of Israel. The presumption of foreign governments to speak in the name of what is best for Israelis is an unacceptable pretension in international relations.
