Michael Greene, rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, faces 1 count of criminal mischief following an alleged incident last month.

The Episcopal Diocese of Albany is considering the fate of a local priest after he was arrested and accused with slashing the tires of a former church employee with whom he was also in a relationship.

According to an Albany Police Department arrest report, Michael Greene, 49, reportedly slashed the victim’s car’s front tires “with an unknown cutting instrument” between 10 AM and 4:40 PM ET on Jan. 11 in the parking garage at 111 N. Pearl St.

Greene, rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Albany, faces 1 felony count of criminal mischief and has not filed a plea in the case, which is still open and ongoing, according to the Albany City Criminal Court clerk.

A woman in her 40s said the tire-slashing was the result of a long-running campaign of harassment and abuse that followed a turbulent romantic relationship that began almost immediately after Greene recruited her to do administrative work at the church.

According to a representative for the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, Greene is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 20.
