CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: [UPDATE] Apollo Quiboloy Pastor and Church Leader of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), Philippines – Senate Panel Subpoenas Pastor over Alleged Sexual Abuse [#ApolloQuiboloy]
On Tuesday, the Senate Women’s Committee summoned the self-proclaimed Appointed of God Apollo Quiboloy to testify before the Senate about sexual abuse allegations.
Senator Risa Hontiveros, who presided over Tuesday’s meeting as committee chair, pushed to subpoena the religious leader for failing to attend the inquiry despite many invitations.
Hontiveros had previously requested that the Department of Justice issue an Immigration Lookout Bulletin against the religious leader in order to prevent him from fleeing the country.
During Tuesday’s session, former members of Quiboloy’s Kingdom of Jesus Christ testified that sexual abuse occurred within the organization.
Aside from physical assault and sexual abuse, some church members were said to have been forced to “exploitative activities” including begging and soliciting money.
Sen. Risa Hontiveros has introduced legislation to investigate allegations of human trafficking, sexual assault, rape, and child abuse by members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, a religious organization founded by controversial preacher Apollo Carreon Quiboloy.
Senate Resolution 884, which was introduced on Monday, requests that the appropriate Senate committees investigate how the Kingdom of Jesus Christ allegedly coerced children to perform sexual acts on adults and sexually trafficked minors, the findings of which may serve as a baseline assessment of the Philippines’ own human trafficking laws.
The resolution further said that Quiboloy was indicted by a California court in 2021 for alleged “conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion.”
According to the website of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, an arrest warrant for Quiboloy was issued 2 years ago on Nov. 10, 2021.
Last Monday, Rep. Arlene Brosas (Gabriela Women’s Party) urged the Marcos administration to facilitate Quiboloy’s extradition in connection with the charges in the United States involving his “appalling crimes.”
In 2022, the US Treasury blocked Quiboloy’s assets because to what it called “serious human rights abuses” done by the preacher.
“For more than a decade, Apollo Carreon Quiboloy engaged in serious human rights abuse, including a pattern of systemic and pervasive rape of girls as young as 11 years old, as well as other physical abuse.”
