A pastor kidnapped on Saturday (Nov. 11) in Nigeria’s central state of Kogi was killed on Tuesday (Nov. 14), according to reports, after church members paid a ransom for his release.
Rev. David Musa of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in the Obajana region of Lokoja County was kidnapped from his farm by armed terrorists.
According to church members, the terrorists wanted 20 million naira (US$23,676) but had accepted 1 million naira (US$1,184).
Before 2 church members went to rescue the pastor, the kidnappers agreed to accept a ransom of 1 million naira.
When the kidnappers urged the church members to take Pastor Musa and leave, they summoned the pastor and shot him as he approached.
The ECWA Obajana District Church Council acknowledged Pastor Musa’s kidnapping and murder.
