CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: Faith Hope and Love Community and Enrichment Ministries, Gastonia, North Carolina Church Trying to Help Homeless Neighbors Facing Legal Battle with City [#FHLRescueMission #MosesColbert #PastorMosesColbert #ApostleMosesColbert]

A church in Gastonia is once again defending itself.

Faith Hope and Love Community and Enrichment Ministries is attempting to give extra help to the homeless people during this week’s terrible winter weather.

This is the same church that was involved in a court struggle with the City of Gastonia over its homeless encampment last summer.

Pastor ‘Apostle’ Moses Colbert said he was doing nothing wrong.

He continues to serve with the homeless, providing food, baths, and a laundry facility.

However, with the temperatures below freezing this week, Moses began assisting individuals even early in the day.

He stated that it appears to be a controversial decision.

Pastor Moses has been serving the homeless community for almost 20 years.

However, this has occasionally led him into problems.

Last year, Moses hosted a homeless encampment on his land, where hundreds slept in tents.

The campground was closed in September when the City of Gastonia sued the church for breaching many city and zoning rules.

The parties finally reached an agreement to dismiss over $100,000 in fines when the church removed the campsite.

This week, Moses felt compelled to extend his hours, opening the doors to his church earlier in the day.

Then he received a letter from the Gastonia Fire Marshall stating that Moses was opening an emergency shelter.

The Salvation Army provides an overnight refuge in Gastonia, but guests must go by 6 AM ET.

The ministry stated that they intend to bridge the gap.

The ministry invites individuals in for meals, comfort, and warmth.

Gastonia Fire Marshal Chris Stowe stated that they got many complaints from an anonymous source and needed to examine the accusations due to a safety concern.

Stowe stated that if the allegations were true, the ministry might face civil fines.

Stowe found the complaints baseless.

The ministry stated that it had no plans to allow individuals to sleep inside the church and feel targeted.

Moses stated that he will continue to do everything he can to help the homeless people.

Moses said that the city and community might move forward if they worked together rather than against one other to solve Gastonia’s homeless problem.
