Pastor David Lynn of Christ Forgiveness Ministries was arrested on June 4, 2019 for preaching the Gospel publicly in Toronto, Canada.

The neighborhood he was preaching in was Church-Wellesley Village.

This neighborhood is known to be a place where many of the LGBTQ community in Toronto reside.

His ministry is currently on an outdoor preaching tour throughout the 22 districts of Toronto. June 4, happened to be the day they scheduled for that district.

It is not uncommon for someone to think “open-air preaching” and “LGBTQ neighborhood” and immediately jump to thoughts of preachers condemning homosexuals to hell.

However, Pastor Lynn’s preaching was some of the most loving and gracious preaching ever seen and heard. Which is why it is outrageous that he was arrested.

According to a Salmon Arm man, his father, Gordon Parmenter, was shot and killed Sunday, April 14, 2019 morning by a man armed with an “assault-style rifle” at the Salmon Arm Church of Christ in the B.C. interior.

According to his son, Dave Parmenter, Gordon Parmenter was a 78-year-old elder at the church and was targeted in the shooting.

“A young man just came in in the middle of the service with an assault-style rifle and targeted one man in the church, and it was my father, and shot him.”
– Dave Parmenter

He said the shooter left the scene and returned moments later before church members tackled him to the ground and held him until police arrived.

According to Dave Parmenter, the alleged shooter and victim were known to each other but a motive is unclear. He said the alleged shooter is “very well-known to our family and was struggling with mental health issues.”

According to Dave Parmenter, his father was a man of faith, a cabinet-maker by trade, and fostered youth.

“Many years of fostering, many years of service in his church, many years of pouring his heart out to others. I just know that everybody is sad. It’s such a sad thing to happen. There’s lots of victims now and the young man is also a victim.”
– Dave Parmenter

A Canadian human rights law firm, The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms ( has sent a legal demand letter to Simcoe Muskoka Child, Youth and Family Services (“Child Services”), a government adoption agency accusing of discrimination calling upon it to reverse its decision to dismiss the application of a loving couple seeking to become foster parents.

In November 2017, the couple “L” and “A,” who wish to remain anonymous, applied to become foster parents. They started the required training in January 2018 and completed it in March. After they completed the training, a Child Services social worker interviewed the couple.

The couple heard nothing from Child Services for the next six months. Then, on October 24, 2018 they received a letter from Child Services communicating its decision to dismiss their application to foster.

“We feel that the policies of our agency do not appear to fit with your values and beliefs and therefore, we will be unable to move forward with an approval for your family as a resources home.”
