BIG BREAKING NEWS – CHRISTIAN ACQUITTED: Saudi Christian Convert Acquitted on Theft Charges [#SaudiPersecution #ChristianPersecution] 05/03
On April 22, 2021, a Saudi Christian convert was acquitted on theft charges.
The Muslim Background Believer was facing charges for attempting to convert Muslims and for financial wrongdoing, the first of which is still ongoing.
The first charge originated in 2020 when he shared in a café his testimony with some close friends.
The conversation was overheard and reported, at which time authorities brought the charges against him.
The second charge occurred several years prior when he helped his sister and children flee Saudi Arabia, her husband and their families because she had converted to Christianity.
Because of his involvement, the family accused him of theft and brought a court case against him.
At the convert’s financial court hearing, a disagreement began between the judge and the two prosecutors, then between the two lawyers.
The judge, angry and frustrated by the situation, declared there was no evidence against the man and acquitted him.
The judge originally intended to ask the man’s family to swear on the Quran that he stole the money and if the relatives did so then he would have been found guilty and served a prison sentence in lieu of restitution.
The Christian man’s acquittal is an immense success for his immediate family of wife and son but also for the MBB community.
Though this good news is not expected to be mirrored in his other cases necessarily, the acquittal of even one charge brought against a convert is an encouragement.
